Please explain what the problem is |

It does not collide with other cars. It's bad for the chase. So is it bad for the Race gamemode, collisions occur very frequently which actually was not, it all looks like a very large ping. In the video, all players have ping less than 100ms. |

I also do not like the vehicle sync. |

Cars travel up to 50 units a second, so a ping of 100ms will result in 5 units of lag - About one car length. Not quite sure what we can do about that. |

I think in GTA4 (and possibly other mp racing games?) car positions are extrapolated to counter this issue but this obviously caused some bad side effects especially when going fast around corners. Remote players would smash the whole sidewalk while on their computer they were just edging the curbstone. |

This sync is for the win... I don't understand why people complain about this, seems like these guys never played any other multi-player game with vehicles. Take a look at NFS:World. |

@diegofkda If I have some more freetime, I will show you a video, but the problem is, you can't pass a vehicle, and drive to the front position of the vehicle(like in the first video), because if you do that, the second player see that you crash into their vehicle, but you don't, you just drive in front of it |

Okay but MTA has a better sync than SA-MP :D I think we all know that |

> Okay but MTA has a better sync than SA-MP :D I think we all know that It is not true, in this time. SA-MP is slightly better sync. |

Well, if SA-MP can provide per-bullet-sync, has a headshot detection and can detect cheated ammo, invulnerability and weapon bugs - yes. Oh wait, it DOESN'T. I think the MTA sync is at its limits, since interpolating the car position will make the cars very laggy due to different physics dependend on FPS. Unless you solve "that" issue (the physics-on-FPS one) you won't be able to interpolate car positions correctly. Just watch low-end computers at the race start where everybody generates smoke for the lulz. Those with a good computer simply accelerate faster. Whats pretty cool about the current sync is, if your car is in front of the other car for you, and his car is in front of your car for the other guy. Its the kind of acceleration thats fun to watch. |

"It is not true, in this time. SA-MP is slightly better sync." Not sure if suicidal depression or just plain stupid. |

I'll add extrapolation as a test option and see what happens |

To test experimental vehicle extrapolation, get 4452 or later: http://nightly.mtasa.com/mtasa-1.3-rc-4452-20120806.exe [^] and enable this: Settings->Advanced->Debug setting->7217 Vehicle sync Note: It alters the position of remote vehicles in your client only. Other players will still see you in the 'old' position (unless they have 4452 as well) P.S. It's a client only change - No server update is required. |

ccw, vehext_percent working for all clients or only for debug setting 7217? |
|
(0017303) ccw (administrator) 2012-08-16 20:27 |
It only works for client and server r4460 (or later). No debug setting is needed. You can check if it enabled by using the client console command: shownetstat |
