Summary0005120: Require nickname/player name on install
Description

I think it'd be a good idea to ask for (and require) a player name on install, as a mandatory step. It should be possible, and it'd help the issue with having tons of people called "Player".

from experience i know that most people just click "yes, yes, yes" while installing something(main reason why they conplain about tool bars and other stuff lol). my suggestion would be a one time pop up on first start which asks you for a nick name.

I agree, but some consensus needs to be reached about where it goes. A popup sounds just as sensible, perhaps on first connect.

Maybe it would be possible to disallow the installer from proceeding further until a valid nickname is typed in the step where you specify a nickname.

but there is no step in the installer where you specify a nickname

Yes, but the idea of this report was to make one, and if what I've mentioned would be possible to do with NSIS, then it would solve the potential problem which was suggested by Dragon.

he want a one time pop up on first start
in my patch there is one that describe why the player need a nickname
after clicking ok it opens the settings window where the player can type his nickname

Please someone add a step in the installer where you must be choose a nickname.
I have no idea where it must be added.

How about at the very end when there is the button "play MTA"?
Just add a random name generator when the player does not choose any name - it will be funny to have players called "Wrtzgrabl".
